Having survived my 40th birthday, the rest of the week continued with a further gym training session on the Thursday morning. By then, however, I was feeling exhausted. Not too surprised given the intensity of some of my training sessions. I managed a run around the Isle of Dogs on Friday lunchtime, but my body was telling me to slow down. Sometimes it’s better to rest up for a few days to get back on track.
Mum came up to London on the Saturday to celebrate my birthday. We went round Greenwich Park in the afternoon, then on to Tayyab Indian Restaurant in the evening near Whitechapel. In the evening we said our goodbyes and on Sunday I decided to train light by doing an hour and a half at the gym – 30 minutes on the treadmill and one hour on the Nautilus machine to build up those leg muscles – so as to keep some momentum.
